Not Bible Camp:

All the nostalgia, without the religious trauma

A summer camp for ex-evangelicals and friends. This is a playful, trauma-informed experience for people who miss the magic and nostalgia of camp…but not what that came with it.

You remember the feeling

Campfire songs. Late-night laughter. Cabin chaos. Running around outside. Games and Crafts. Feeling like you belonged somewhere.

You might miss all that.

Just not the pressure. Not the fear. Not the manipulation. Not the part where belonging came with a price.

This is camp, reimagined.

Not Bible Camp is a consent-based, community-centred, summer camp experience for ex-evangelicals, former Christians, and anyone who wants the joy of camp without the baggage. We are an all-genders, all-ages community gathering built around play, rest, connection and reclaiming joy.

No alter calls. No purity culture. No hidden agenda. No spiritual pressure. No pretending to be someone you’re not.

Just play, rest, connection, and room to be fully human.

What you can expect

  • Camp-style games and activities. Music, creativity and nature. Optional workshops and group conversations. Rest, reflection, and unstructured time. A family-inclusive environment. A space that feels genuinely good to be in.

  • Everything is optional. Your body is yours. Your story is yours. Your no means no. Your yes gets to be yours too. Summer camp the way it should be.

  • We’re a bunch of former camp kids who grew up with summer camp as one of the only places where joy, belonging, music, ritual, friendship, and wonder all lived in one place.

That nostalgia is real. So is the harm.

Not Bible Camp makes room for both truths. This is a chance to reconnect with yourself, your body, your relationships, and your sense of belonging outside of patriarchal religious systems.

What makes this different

Trauma-informed: We take emotional safety seriously

Consent-based: No coercion dressed up as care

Family-inclusive: Come solo, come with a partner, with kids, or with a group of friends

Playful: This is not a weekend of forced heaviness. It’s meant to feel alive.

Low-pressure: You choose your level of participation at all times.

Choose your accommodations: You got choices. Pitch your tent, upgrade to bring your RV or sleep offsite. Either way, we’ll have breakfast ready for you in the morning.

Decolonial and Matriarchal: We’re not trying to indoctrinate you into white supremacist ideals disguised as religion. Our leadership team is made up of Queer, BIPOC femmes + friends and we are intentionally building something new, something anti-capitalist, and something inclusive for all.

Spots will be Limited

Not for exclusivity. For care. We want this to feel personal, spacious and grounded.

If this sounds like something your younger self, and your nervous system, have been waiting for, don’t wait too long.

What a typical day at camp looks like:

We’ve got all the summer camp classics - team challenges, arts & crafts, field games and afternoons spent at the river. If you’re looking for nostalgia, this is it.

Prefer to keep it low-key? No problem. Bring a picnic blanket or hammock and lounge in the sunshine. There are lots of options to choose from.

This is your camp, your way.

As we co-create an environment together, we are offering work-trade opportunities for folks who are willing to share their skills in exchange for reduced registration fees. Skill share roles may be assisting with childcare, meal prep, cooking and other duties around camp. Please send us an email to inquire about available positions. hello@reclaimingart.ca
