As a Mama, time out to relax and focus on self-care is a precious commodity. So when the invitation came to visit Saltwonder: Himalayan Salt Cave in North Vancouver, I counted it as a blessing and a special treat!
I became captivated by natural healing and back-to-basics living when I was pregnant with our son in 2014. Modern day North American lifestyles are so toxic; everything we have is man-made, altered and chemically processed and I really believe that this can have a devastating effect on our overall mental, emotional and physical health. Turning to natural healing just makes sense to me and I truly believe that God gave us everything we need within the earth; its our responsibility to know how to manage these resources wisely, effectively and sustainably.
Salt Therapy is one of these gifts.
Created to mimic the naturally occurring salt caves like the ones found across Europe and Asia, Saltwonder has imported over 35,000 pounds of pure pink Himalayan Salt from the mountains of Pakistan, bringing life to an atheistically beautiful salt cave that is both calming and cleansing. With a warm temperature of 21 Celsius and humidity at 40-45% the salt cave is specially designed using a Halogenerator to disperse dry saline aerosol from the natural Himalayan rock salt. While the Himalayan Salt is known for its many healing properties I instantly noticed the small, glowing crystals going to work on me; when I entered the salt cave I was suffering from the two week-long sinus headache and when I left, it was gone.
Whether you believe in the Himalayan Salt’s natural healing properties or not, it is undeniable how beautiful and peaceful the cave is. With gentle music, trickling waterfalls and the warm, soft glow of pink crystals all around you, Saltwonder is truly an experience worth taking in. I highly recommend treating yourself to a spa day at the cave or going together with a loved one or a few friends to enjoy some self-care time, together.
