I love love. And I don’t believe that love should be limited to solely romantic love. It’s important to love your spouse, love your family, love your friends, love your community, love your pets….heck, it is even crazy important to love yourself!
I am convinced that the world is a much better place with more love in it.
To this end, I am taking the opportunity today to start a new tradition and celebrating February 13 as Galentine’s Day!
Thank you, Leslie Knope.
When it comes to expressing her appreciation for another person, her community, her career, or her love of waffles, no one does it better than Leslie Knope.
So this year I took a page out of Knope’s playbook and hosted my own Galantine’s Party for some of my wonderful girlfriends. Because a day that celebrates “ladies being ladies” is alright with me!
So cheers to lady friendships!
Here’s to good times, belly laughs, honest conversations and funny realities with no competition – just the celebration of sisterhood!
We need to create these safe, authentic, women-only places in the world today. We all experience womanhood differently but we are never alone. Her hard fought battles are my victories too; and we can walk together in solidarity through the hard times.
Real love is constant, unconditional and full of grace. It extends into the realm of sisterhood and can be a powerful force in the world, if we are willing to let it unfold.
I’m thankful to know such incredible women like this. Women who believe in collaboration, in blooming their unique beauty, owning their stories, in supporting one another and raising up the leaders among us.
It’s a fine thing when passion, beauty and friendship mix.
And we need more days like Galantine’s Day. Because when women empower women, incredible things happen.
So hug your lady friends today! Tell them that you appreciate them. Go get a mani/pedi together. Eat some waffles. Pop the champagne. Let’s support one another on this journey of sisterhood because we are stronger together and beautiful just the way we are.
Big thanks to the amazing ladies who made my vision for Galantine’s Day happen!

And of course, to Leslie Knope, who is big enough to admit that she is often inspired by herself. You go, girl.
