It’s no surprise, like most girls, I love to shop. However in my pursuit of ethical living, I am becoming more and more aware of who makes our products, how they are made, and how we can use our consumer dollars to intentionally bring powerful change into the world.
Yet there’s one thing that I love more than shopping with purpose and that’s meeting the world changers behind the brands that are making freedom and dignity happen. One of these such world changers is Michelle, founder of American Nomad.
American Nomad believes that every item has a story and every artist has a voice and seeks to empower those voices through sustainable and dignified work. Everything that American Nomad does is for the goal of authenticity in art, preservation of culture, advocacy of important issues and compassion for our fellow man.
American Nomad was birthed out of the belief that if a basket has been inspired by the culture of Africa then it should be made by the artisans of Africa and not be a mass produced counterfeit.
I had the privilege of interviewing Michelle, founder of American Nomad to discuss why shopping with purpose is so important.
I can’t wait to show you some of the beautiful artisan pieces that now adorn our home; Each piece truly does have a story and I’m proud to be part of raising up each artist’s voice.
Stay tuned for a new post and giveaway with American Nomad.
