I once read a beautiful proverb that said we could never truly know another person, that each soul is a divine mystery that can only be fully known by God.
This resonates within me because it calls out to the deep and sacred complexity that exists within the core of each human soul. That our “self” is more than the mere titles we use to label one another in our modern societies.
As I lead a local group for mothers in my community I so often hear, “oh I’m just a mom” as if this weighty title of life – nurturer is some small feat to be shrugged off or that somehow this pouring out of our self is not as monumental as the work of another.
No my friends, motherhood is a calling. It is to be honoured, celebrated, shared and enjoyed. In the busy days of sweeping crumbs, wiping noses and comforting tears know that you are also more than a mother.
You are a deep, ever evolving divine creation that was made to bring forth beauty and goodness into the world. You are purpose and passion; a divine mystery that God knows and delights in.
And while we walk this earth, we are on the steadfast pursuit to unravel the mystery of each soul, the truth of each self, and to see the divine beauty in each other’s eyes.
