We aren’t even two weeks into 2016 and already my heart is filled with hope for all that this year will be. The first of my 2016 babies was born last week and as always, it was an absolute privilege and honour to serve as doula, witnessing the raw strength and determination of motherhood. Babies always bring with them renewal and hope for the future. My prayers go out to this precious new family as together they navigate the new adventures ahead of them and endless possibilities covered in God’s grace.
My renewed passion for a future of hope is further fuelled by a recent introduction to a fabulous company that is intentionally bringing together women from all corners of the globe to life one another up in the beauty of sisterhood. Fashion and Compassion is a fair trade lifestyle brand of handcrafted jewelry that brings beauty and dignity to women artisans around the world through economic empowerment. It’s more than jewelry, its connecting communities all around the world with hope, beauty and justice.
Better yet, Fashion and Compassion is more than a boutique, it is non-profit and donate 100% of their net proceeds back to the artisans and ministry partners. F&C works with artisans in Mexico, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Honduras, Ecuador and from the American town of Charlotte, NC. Many of the women in the artisan projects have overcome unimaginable circumstances like poverty, addiction, war, exploitation and abuse. The heart of Fashion and Compassion is its mission to help create a better life for the women they serve by providing financial, educational and emotional support.
To showcase the beauty of this jewelry and in honour of today being National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, I’ve partnered up with Fashion and Compassion to giveaway the Strands of Hope Necklace to one lucky winner!
The Strands of Hope Necklace is unique because every bead is made from Acai Berry Seeds and designed by young women who have been rescued from brothels in Ecuador. The profits from the sale of this necklace are being used to establish a home called Casa Adalia where the girls can heal emotionally, physically and spiritually, as they learn important life skills.
This necklace is beautiful and world-changing. It can be effortlessly added to your wardrobe and styled casual or glam, for day or night. However you choose to wear it, know that you are bringing hope and dignity to women around the world.
