In June of 2010 I was robbed. My laptop was stolen from me while I was at work. Not only did I feel as though my personal privacy and safety were violated, I lost all of my music library, college papers, accumulated research, journals and thousands of photos. I was devastated.
However, besides being more aware of the customers within the store where I work, walking through this experience has thought me a number of things. As strange as it sounds, I have been incredibly blessed by family and God’s provision through this robbery.
You see, I was really discouraged when this all happened. I have a somewhat naive faith in people and unfortunately, my instant trust in complete strangers was taken advantage of in this situation. After my laptop was taken from me I had to trust that God was in control regardless. It was hard for me to think that although God is sovereign and saw this injustice taking place and still it happened.
I don’t always understand why things happen the way that they do. Even though I know that the injustice I suffered is nothing compared to those that live in overwhelming injustice every day. Yet not matter the situation God remains faithful. My Ah-Ma (Grandmother) is one of the most generous people on the entire planet. God has used her on numerous occasions to show His provision. This time I was provided with, not only a replacement Mac Book, but a brand new Mac Book Pro!
You see, often times we don’t understand why things happen the way that they do. Truthfully, I still don’t fully know. What I do know, is that God is sovereign. Even in bad situations He is going before to provide us with better ones than we originally experienced. Throughout my life there have been many different times where I was content to settle with what I had. I am learning that God plans larger plans than I do.
Even when I dream my biggest dream- His are still greater.
