I love early summer evenings- the world is alive, fresh and budding with possibilities!
Tonight I spent the evening with pen in paper in hand as I sat in a booth at Joey’s in Greater Vancouver, vision casting and brainstorming fundraiser events with three of my new friends from the Miss BC 2010 Pageant. As I sat with these young women I was in awe of the amount of passion and creativity that was brought to the table. I was not in the presence of beauty queens or pageants girls- I was amongst world leaders. Together, as a team, we discussed major world issues- violence, oppression, social injustices and human rights- not the main conversation topics of most young women in their early 20s.
We may be ambitious but as a group we decided that our goal will be to raise $100,000 for charities local and abroad over the course of this next year. We are 46 Miss BC participants working together for one common goal: We are serious about making a difference in the world. Every human life is of value and we will make noise to ensure that the “voiceless” are heard!
So prepare yourselves for a year of monumental impact! We are young but we are relentless. This is the “tipping point”; this is the moment that changes the course of history.
One Hundred Thousand Dollars by July 2011- Let’s get serious about ending poverty and oppression within Canada and worldwide. Please join us!!
